Four-star Spanish Grand Prix win for Billy Twomey

Cork’s Billy Twomey scored an impressive win in Sunday’s four-star 1m55 Grand Prix at Valencia in Spain, beating off a field of 50 horses and riders to take the top prize of €26,5000.

Riding the 16-year-old stallion Chat Botte E.D (Casall x Darco), Twomey posted the fastest clear (35.32) of a seven-horse jump-off, finishing over a second ahead of French runner-up Alexa Ferrer with Vitalhorse Fleur. Meath’s Cian O’Connor also made it through to the second round with Bentley de Sury and finished fourth with one fence down against the clock.
