Golden tickets to RDS Dublin Horse Show secured at Mullingar Young Horse qualifiers

The last of three Young Horse qualifiers for the 2025 RDS Dublin Horse Show took place this week at Mullingar Equestrian Centre in Co Westmeath.

The 7 & 8 year-old qualifier saw Young Rider Max Foley take the top prize aboard the 7-year-old HHS Arezzo with the fastest of 10 double clear rounds. Second and third places were filled by another Young Rider, with Niamh McEvoy guiding Cold Play S Z to runner-up spot and taking third place with Boleybawn Alvaro (ISH). A total of nine golden tickets to the RDS were on offer in the 7 & 8 year-old competition with the list of those qualifying also including Daren Hopkins with the John McKibbin-bred Leestone Stockholm (ISH), Conor McMahon with Billy Raindrop, Alex Finney with the Conrad McGuinness-bred CMG Winchester (ISH), Cathal Daniels with the Oliver Ward-bred Ardragh Lucky Lass (ISH), Eoin Brennan with Augustus Z and Darragh Ryan with Lady Blue Du Pont Letot.

The six-year-old competition had 12 qualifying places on offer, with Jason Foley taking the winners prize aboard Jm Forever Red (ISH), who was bred by Jimmy Lawler. Niamh McEvoy finished as runner-up with the GBBS Stables-bred BP Lucky Clover (ISH), while third spot went to Paul Lynch with the Alan Wheeler-bred Cashless (ISH).
The remaining qualifying places went to Eddie Moloney with the Harry Quigley-bred Dignified (ISH), Harry Wood with the Joseph Allen-bred Gypsy Pharo (ISH), Jason Foley with Castlefield Nore, Zoe Mehigan with the Seamus Drea-bred DSH Vigo Sea (ISH), Niamh McEvoy with the Ennisnag Stud-bred BP Othello (ISH), Wesley Ryan with Orvil Grandia, Kian Dore with the John Mitchell-bred Ardkyle Freestyle (ISH), Jack Ryan with Thera Van Heiste and Tholm Keane with the Justin burke-bred Galwaybay Winningmood (ISH).

The 5-year-old qualifier was won by Junior rider Tabitha Kyle with Ottani Z ahead of Shane Dalton in second with Unicum, while Shane Dalton also finished third with the John Byrne-bred Tangelos Touch. The 12 qualifying places were also filled by Jack Kent with the Sean Stafford-bred Castlefield Tycoon (ISH), Rhys Williams with the Gareth Cassidy-bred GLC Little Pleasure (ISH), Catherine Thornton with the Catherine Thornton & Patricia Kavanagh-bred Millonix (ISH), Diarmuid Killeen with the Pat Quinn-bred Claremount Lal (ISH), James Hogg with the Gilbert Fletcher-bred Hawkesbury Lad (ISH), Eoin Brennan with the Michael Brennan-bred MHS Attractive (ISH), Robyn Moran with the Donal Cadden-bred Kilbrackan Stakatto (ISH), Timmy Brennan with the Martina Romagnoli-bred Mayweather (WSI) and Jason Higgins with the Donnchadh Doyle-bred Dj Doyle (ISH).

The 4-year-old RDS qualifier saw the top prize going to Harold Megahey with Clover Kcx on a score of 80.25. Christian Kennedy and Kbs Night Walker (ISH), bred by Global Event Horses Ltd scored 78.25 to finish as runners-up, while Harry Wood and BP Royal Highness (ISH), bred by Gbbs Int Ltd finished third on a score of 77.5. The remaining qualifying places were filled by Olivia Shanahan with the Victoria Von Schoen-bred Grennanstown Foxie Lady (ISH), Jack Brennan with the Tom Brennan And Michael Brennan-bred Mhs Magical (ISH), Shane Quinn with the Martin John Kavanagh-bred Bc Lux Grand (ISH), Andrew Hodgins with Daconti G and Shane Goggins with The Seafarer (ISH) who was bred by James Joyce.

The 2025 RDS Dublin Horse Show which will take place from Wednesday 6th to Sunday 10th of August.
