Irish-bred horses fill two of top three places at Mullingar International

Irish-bred horses were in fine form at Mullingar International Horse Show in Co Westmeath, filling two of the top three places in the feature two-star Grand Prix sponsored by Red Brick Wall Donors for the Edward and Margaret Fagan Trophy.

Castlefield Hera (ISH), a 9-year-old mare bred in Kilkenny by Jim O’Neill, finished as runner up for owner Clare Hughes with her son Seamus Hughes-Kennedy in the saddle. Seamus also filled third place with ESI Rocky (ISH) an 8-year-old gelding bred by Ennisnag Stud and owned by Clare Hughes. Victory in the Grand Prix went to 18-year-old Rhys Williams and Playboy Jt Z after a 5-horse jump-off.

There was also a top-10 finish for Garryndruig Limoncello (ISH), a 10-year-old mare bred in Dublin by Geri McGeoghegan and ridden by Aimee Barry.
